Partner Search Terms
A name, location, or other term entered into a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Cumberland County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own system. The search provider's privacy policy governs the query after it is transmitted.
Messages Sent to Us
If you email or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details you provide so we can read and answer it. We do not share a message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law. Do not send confidential court, medical, juvenile, or corrections documents. Official records belong with Piedmont Regional Jail, the Cumberland Sheriff's Office, a court clerk, VADOC, or the agency responsible for them.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Routine server, analytics, and service logs may collect technical details when a page loads. These details help operate and protect the service and show broad patterns of use. They may include:
- The visitor's Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when supplied
- Date and time stamps for requests

Those sites are separate. Their privacy notices and data practices apply after a visitor follows a link or submits information to them.
Advertising partners may use their own cookies or related technology to measure activity across websites and select interest-based ads. That collection occurs through the partner's systems, not through a Cumberland County government records system operated here.
Who May Receive Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may still reach service providers or public authorities when needed for the functions described in this notice. Those recipients can include:
- Search partners that process a submitted query

Use Is Limited to Adults
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or legal guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request its deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the nature of the information held, a visitor may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal data maintained about that visitor
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate
- Erase information when a valid deletion right applies
- Stop certain processing where an applicable opt-out right exists
These choices concern data maintained by this private site. Requests for Virginia public records, corrections files, or changes to an agency record must go to the government custodian. Virginia FOIA, Code ยง2.2-3700 et seq., governs access to covered public records and does not turn this site into the custodian of Cumberland or VADOC records.
